Message for Young People

What is IVRS?

IVRS (Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services) offers services to persons with disabilites to help them prepare for and get jobs. Our counselors work closely with young people in planning for their future. We work with both students in high school and young people who have left the school system.

You may qualify for services:

If you have a physical, learning or emotional condition that gets in the way of preparing for, getting, or keeping a job. IVRS will work with your school team to help you plan.

What's in it for you?

Do you know what the labor market in your areas is like? Or what kind of jobs might be good for you?

You can discuss your goals with your IVRS counselor. Your counselor is your partner. You work together to get to where you want to be.

Some things you might look at:

  • Career planning from high school to college work
  • Counseling
  • Possible financial assistance for training or education
  • Adaptive aids and devices
  • What careers are right for you
  • What job skills employers need
  • How to get and keep a job
  • Vocational assessment
  • Independent Living
  • Assistance in planning daily living
  • Labor market information

Is there a cost?

IVRS is a public service. Some IVRS services are provided at no cost or IVRS may be able to pay for other services and/or training. Some services are based on unmet needs.
