This link is provided for applicants, clients and partners of Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services (IVRS) to serve as a periodic update on the status of our waiting lists.

How do I get on the waiting list?
You meet with an IVRS counselor and complete the application for services. Your counselor will determine if you are eligible according the federal guidelines, and then depending upon the significance of your disability you may be placed on one of three waiting lists:
If I am on a waiting list, will I ever get services?
Services depend upon funding from the state and federal government. As funds become available, persons on the waiting lists are served according to the severity of disability. Persons on the Most Significantly Disabled waiting list are served first. All persons on that waiting list must be served before individuals on the Significantly Disabled waiting list. Others Eligible are served only when all persons from the Significantly Disabled waiting list have been served.
Can I find out which waiting list I am on, and how long it will be before I am served?
Your counselor will advise you which waiting list you have been placed on at the time eligibility is determined. At any time, you may ask your counselor where you are on the waiting list. Your counselor will have to make contact with the State IVRS office to get this information, and then they can provide it to you.
How long will my name remain on the waiting list?
Your case record will remain open until you request that it be closed. We ask that you keep your IVRS counselor advised of any change in address or telephone number.
How will I be notified when I will be served?
Each month IVRS considers the number of individuals the agency has the capacity to serve, and then removes those names from the top of the list to receive services.
When clients are removed from the waiting list a letter is sent to them advising them of the opportunity to receive services and their assigned counselor will also contact them to arrange an appointment for planning.
What if I disagree on where I am placed on the waiting lists?
You have the right to appeal your waiting list determination. Contact your counselor, the IVRS area office supervisor, or the Iowa Client Assistance Program at 1-800-652-4298.
