Questions?
Once you know what job you want, there are steps to take to get you there. Here are some important steps:

1. Develop your resume

2. Complete an application correctly
3. Develop a list of three references
4. Have a cover letter ready
5. Keep a log of where you've applied and the date
6. Research companies when you apply
7. Have three questions ready to ask at each interview. Be sure to practice before each interview with a friend, teacher, IVRS Representative, parent, etc.
8. Dress for success! Wear clothes that are appropriate for the job or a little better for the interview. Ask someone if your attire is good for interviewing. This is your chance to make a great first impression!
9. Prepare and send a thank you note after the interview.
10. Call back in two or three days if you haven't heard back. Your call should be about the same day your thank you note is received. They will know you want the job AND they will like the way you went about getting it!
11. When you are offered the job, explain duties that you will need a reasonable accommodation for. Express to the employer how you will do that task with the accommodation. Work with your counselor to clarify this.
12. Accept the position and ask what you need to do and when to start.
