Kimberley Barber was invited to join the Iowa Self-Employment Program as a Business Development Specialist in November 2007. Kimberley was formerly a Vocational Rehabilitation counselor with the Iowa Department for the Blind and a successful entrepreneur. As a business owner, she offered business consulting, training, and coaching services to ethnic minorities, veterans, refugees, and women for more than ten years. Her work also included international business training and consulting that assisted women to achieve self-sufficiency and independence through self-employment opportunities. A Presidential Award for Excellence in Microenterprise Development was presented to Kimberley for her contributions toward poverty alleviation. She has also been recognized for her loyal dedication and unwavering commitment in serving Iowans with Disabilities. Kimberley holds a BA degree in Business with emphasis in Human Resource Management from William Penn College and a MS degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from Drake University. Kimberley continues her life-long journey of learning by attending various business trainings and seminars. Based in Des Moines, Kimberley provides technical and financial assistance services to clients throughout central Iowa.
